Emerson said, “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not”. Growing up outside of Boston, Massachusetts, I dreamed of seeing the great Renaissance paintings, the mosques and bazaars of Istanbul, and the Terracotta Warriors. My art studies have embedded within me with a love of architecture and design, as well as the ability to drop into cultures around the world and explore.

My respect for other cultures has greatly influenced me as an artist. I’ve adopted something new from each place I've lived. From Switzerland comes my love of a Negroni. In India I realized that chaos and beauty often walk together hand-in-hand. South Korea taught me that there is much beauty below the surface. And Russia taught me that there is beauty in the struggle and hope against all odds. Art is the thread that binds each of these gifts – whether I am appreciating, making, or teaching art, I am always surrounded by the principles of design.

My travels and the people I've met along the way inspire my art. Focusing primarily on the subject of the human figure, I explore with many mediums. Clay and oil paint are two favorites and recently I've expanded into printmaking. I bring my love of many mediums into my classroom. I structure my curriculum to reflect this appreciation. My students would describe me as an enthusiastic motivator – I push them beyond their boundaries. My colleagues would describe me as a spirited, fierce friend, and a supportive coworker. I earn their respect through my dedication to my students and by my positive contributions to our community.

In seeking my next placement, I hope to find a school that will welcome me, help me to grow as an educator, and offer life experiences - both challenging and enriching. Open to whatever the road has in store for me, I am excited for the journey ahead.
